About LaunchControl
RV-C and the Firefly system offer impressive capabilities, but in real-world use, the experience can feel limited. While RV-C is an open standard for communications across all devices in an RV, the available control interfaces don’t fully take advantage of what the system is capable of.
LaunchControl was created to bridge that gap.
It started with a simple, practical problem. Much of my camping is off-grid, and more than once I’d wake up realizing something had been left on all night—draining power unnecessarily. Other times, I’d be in bed wondering what systems were still running, without an easy way to check or control them.
There had to be a better way.
Drawing on my background designing broadcast control and automation systems, I set out to create something different—a control experience that is simple, intuitive, and useful in everyday situations. RV-C already provides access to nearly everything in the van, but the key is not showing everything—it’s showing the right things, in the right way.
LaunchControl is built around that philosophy:
Clean, elegant interface design
Thoughtfully simplified controls
Immediate, at-a-glance visibility
Automation where it actually makes a difference
The goal was to create a system that feels natural to use—something that reduces friction instead of adding complexity.
The result is a control system that not only solves real problems but does so with a level of polish and usability that’s often missing in this space.
After seeing how well it worked in my own van, I decided to make LaunchControl available to others as a github project where it remains as free to use code. At the same time, I recognized that setup can feel intimidating, so I’ve made it available both as a self-install product for purchase and with optional remote assistance to help get everything up and running smoothly.
